John Riccitiello, the CEO of gaming company Unity Technologies, repeatedly sexually harassed female colleagues, propositioning them for sex and then threatening one if she spoke about his behavior, the former executive claims in a lawsuit filed last week.

Riccitiello was previously CEO of video game publisher Electronic Arts before becoming Unity’s CEO in The San Francisco-based company, which makes the building blocks for games like Pokémon Go and has raised $ million from investors such as Sequoia Capital, for a recent $ billion valuation, said it “intends to vigorously defend against the false allegations.”

In the suit filed in the Superior Court of California, San Francisco, Unity Technologies’ former vice president of talent acquisition, Anne Evans, says Riccitiello and other men in management allegedly spoke openly about female employees in a sexual manner and pursued relationships with them. It also alleges incidents in which Riccitiello propositioned Evans and two of her direct reports for sex. On March , for instance, Riccitiello allegedly asked Evans to join him in Paris to meet with the team located there, and then invited her into his hotel room. After making a reference to his erect penis, Riccitiello allegedly said, “I want to f you. I want to throw you down on the bed and f you.” Evans then asked Riccitiello to grab a bottle of wine from the hotel bar, allowing her to leave the room. The next day at brunch, Riccitiello allegedly said, “It would be good for your career if you keep mouth shut about last night.”

The lawsuit charges the company with termination in violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act and retaliation for resisting sexual advances and failure to prevent discrimination and retaliation.

Riccitiello, who took over from the company’s cofounder David Helgason, was expected to take Unity public as early as

The suit also alleges an environment where the CEO’s consensual relationship with the head of human resources makes it hard for employees to complain about problems without retaliation. In one instance, Evans said certain employees had inappropriately looked at a company-wide confidential survey about the workplace’s culture. Evans reported this to the company’s chief people officer and head of HR, Elizabeth Brown, who had been in a relationship with Riccitiello since

“The relationship and the issues it was causing in the workplace had been discussed openly and regularly among Evans and her peers. Those discussions revealed the discomfort and confusion amongst Unity employees regarding how reporting relationships would be handled and/or how complaints about either Riccitiello or Brown would be handled considering the company’s chief people officer (i.e., the head of human resources) was dating the CEO,” the suit said.

Natalie Mulay, the head of Americas recruiting and one of the employees who Evans said looked at the survey, then allegedly accused Evans of sexual harassment in retaliation—the two had previously been in a relationship in early The company investigated the claim and cleared Evans.

However, during the investigation, the company informed Evans it learned she accepted gifts in the past from Mulay, which was against company policy and would result in Evans’ termination from the company. The suit claims there is no such policy, and that Evans had not previously been informed of one. Evans alleges Brown would openly describe their sexual encounters and had accepted gifts valued in the millions of dollars from Riccitiello.

In a statement, Unity said it had terminated Evans “following a third-party investigation that surfaced facts that Evans engaged in serious misconduct and established multiple instances in which she demonstrated a gross lapse in judgment,” and said, “we have policies in place to address relationships in the workplace.” It did not elaborate on Evans’ alleged misconduct.

This is not the only recent example of alleged sexual misconduct at a game company. A Kotaku investigation last year on the sexist work environment at League of Legends creator Riot Games resulted in lawsuits against the company. Riot COO Scott Gelb, who was accused of sexual harassment by employees, remains at the company after two months on unpaid leave.

Unity Technologies Releases Unity

UnityUnity Technologies, provider of the Unity multi-platform engine and development tools, is proud to announce that Unity is now available for download. This latest update is one of the biggest additions to Unity since its inception and includes major new features and a multitude of improvements, tweaks, and optimizations. Unity is a free update for all developers using version or higher of the Unity development platform.

"This is one of the most spectacular additions we've ever made to Unity," said David Helgason, CEO, Unity Technologies. "Recognizing that Unity was being pushed harder and harder, we launched our initiative to upgrade Unity with high-end capabilities that larger studios are accustomed to and smaller studios usually don't have access to. We want to make Unity the best choice for everyone and Unity is a massive demonstration of our commitment to that goal."

The Unity development platform, one of the most popular in the world with more than , registered developers globally, combines a powerful engine with an intuitive set of development tools in one complete package.

"We are incredibly proud of this release and I think it's our strongest yet," said Nicholas Francis, Chief Creative Officer, Unity Technologies. "A year ago, we took a deep dive and began working on developing features for more complex projects and larger teams. It took hard work to do this while preserving the intuitive and usable design that makes Unity so popular, but we are sure that developers using Unity will be as happy with the improvements as we are."

Throughout its history, Unity Technologies has continued to rapidly enhance Unity and the update provides a long list of additions and improvements:

New in Unity , the highly optimized Shuriken particle system provides artists and programmers with complete control over particle-based visual effects. Shuriken is a curve and gradient-based modular editor, with hierarchies and sequencing capabilities that allow for many particle systems to stay synchronized.

Pathfinding and Obstacle Avoidance

Improvements to AI provide accurate pathfinding along complex pathways and natural movement through crowds. Game developers can bake navigation data in the editor and let Unity's high-performance path-finding and crowd simulation take over at runtime.

Lighting and Rendering

Developers can create jaw-dropping visuals with linear space (gamma correct) lighting and HDR rendering, and render them faster than before with Unity 's brand new multi-threaded renderer.

Also new to Unity , light probes add life and realism to lightmapped scenes without the high cost of typical dynamic lights. The addition of light probes to Unity's lighting system allows for baked lighting on characters and other dynamic objects.

New Platforms

Unity supports Native Client as a new deployment platform. Native Client allows for near native speeds within the Chrome browser, without the need for installing the Unity Web Player. Unity also ships with the preview release of the Flash deployment add-on, which has already been used by 50, developers.

Performance Improvements

Unity includes a completely re-written integration of Umbra's occlusion culling system. The result is incredibly fast and works with terrains and dynamic obstacles such as doors. When combined with Unity's new built-in level-of-detail support, it gives large-scale games the performance boost that they need.

Better Collaboration Tools

The Asset Server license, Unity's add-on for teams and collaboration, has been enhanced with new features that add greater performance and flexibility. The addition of Unity's cache server dramatically speeds up collaboration on projects of all sizes, and a new developer API for third-party version control solutions, such as Subversion and Perforce, allows larger teams to work more efficiently. To reflect these changes, the product has been renamed the "Team License," and made available as an add-on for all Unity users.

Additional Improvements

The update includes other improvements such as a new GPU profiler, a fully pluggable Social API to implement social gaming, and low-level audio buffer access to create music games, and directional lightmaps support to name but a few. For a complete list of additions and improvements, please visit shopzoro.us

Pricing and Availability

This is a free update for all Unity 3 users. Pricing otherwise remains the same. The entry-level product, Unity, is free for commercial use. The premier product, Unity Pro, remains $ per developer seat. For a complete list of products and pricing, please visit shopzoro.us

The team has also built out a comprehensive tagging system in Intercom that allows them to easily understand how specific pages are generating new business. The two main tags are used for: 1) lead status (whether they are qualified or not 2) Nature of the inquiry (ie - sales vs. support).

“We primarily wanted to understand 3 conversion points: 1) how much traffic a page has 2) how many conversations do we have on the page 3) how many of those conversations are sales related. The conversion rate of traffic to conversations helps tell us if our initial VAM has the right copy and tone that encourages users to chat with us. The conversation to lead conversion tells us if it’s even worth it for us to have chat on the page. With our tagging system in place we could immediately prove the ROI of Intercom.”

From the inside sales team, to outbound sales, and customer success Intercom is now the key communication channel for Unity’s customers both pre and post-sale.
